The company owns more than 110 newspapers and is represented in 14 countries with almost 12, 000 employees. 62 percent of its turnover is being earned abroad. The Bertlesmann AG owns 74, 9 percent and the Jahr family, a family from Hamburg traditionally involved in publishing, owns 25, 1 percent of the company. Gruner and Jahr AG & Co KG is also invovled in many other printing and publishing houses. Among others are the Spiegel publishers (24, 75 percent), the Hamburg School of Journalism (95 percent) and the Financial Times Germany (50 percent). The company's printing plants in Germany and USA are considered to be the most modern printing fascilities worldwide.
