(dpa) - A believer of the Hindu faith hangs, attached to hooks which a pierced through the skin on his legs and back, on ropes and hovers in front of a yellow road sign in Hamm, Germany, 15 June 2003. He is part of a Hindu temple congregation which celebrates the goddess Sri Kamadchi Ampal (the goddess with the eyes of love) as part of the largest religious Hindu temple festivities in continental Europe. According to the Hindu faith these religious rituals increase the benevolence of the goddess towards her followers and believers. The founder of the temple is the Tamile priest Siva Sri Paskarakurukkal who arrived in Germany as a refugee from the civil war in Sri Lanka in 1985. Sri Paskarakurukkal was trained as a priest in Sri Lanka and in southern India.
