Rome, Italy. Disfigured papal coat of arms of Pope Alexander VI Borja (Alessandro VI Borgia 1492 - 1503) on the main face of Castel Sant'Angelo. Many coat of arms of pope Alexander VI were disfigured with a scalpel, all around Rome, immediately after his death. This particular coat of arms was probably disfigured during the First Roman Republic (1799) like many other papal coat of arms in Castel Sant'Angelo.
