Ross Harrison, 4, from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The Huntingdon branch of the confectionery giant came under fire after one of its shop assistants charged a panicking mother 26p when she asked for an emergency chocolate for diabetic Ross. * Mrs Harrison said she needed a piece of chocolate quickly when he began having a hypoglycaemic attack outside a Thorntons' shop in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Mrs Harrison said she dashed into the shop, explained the situation, and told the woman that the four-year-old boy needed a small piece of chocolate immediately to boost his blood sugar levels. The shop assistant asked what kind of chocolate Mrs Harrison wanted, offered to wrap it and charged 26p. Thorntons today apologised to Mrs Harrison and said it was investigating the incident. The company, which is based in Derby and sells special chocolate for diabetics, said it had a policy that staff should offer immediate assistance to any customer in distress.
