On 26th January, the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports called a half day long general strike in Dhaka for demanding cancel the Rampal coal-fired power plant which is near to the world largest mangrove forest Sundarbans. Bangladesh has signed a deal with India to set up the 1, 300-megawatt thermal power plant in Rampal.
