Departure of the Jews from Germany, Dresden 1896. The image 'The Departure of the Jews from Germany' was selected from an 1896 issue of the 'Political Illustrated' of Dresden. The stock exchange and the synagogue are visible on the left side of the image. A sign is hung upon the place of worship: 'Closed by the police due to departure!' On the right side of the image a steamer lies at anchor with a hoisted pirate flag. The departing Jews are heading towards the boat. In the background of the picture a map of Europe is signified. All the European countries have closed their waters to the Jews leaving Germany. The ships finally dock on the coast of Egypt. The departing Jews disembark there.
