Crucifix in front of the Basilica of Assumption of Mary in Velehrad, South Moravia, Czech Republic. The full name of the basilica is the Basilica of Assumption of Mary and Saints Cyrill and Methodius. The village of Velehrad near Uherske Hradiste is one of the most important pilgrimage places in the Czech Republic. According to one tradition, in the Middle Ages it was the capital of the Slavic state of Great Moravia
