Cornish (Devenish) Best Bitter bottle label - circa 1987 - 1989. Original Gravity 1044 - 1048. J A Devenish & Co were registered as a limited company in 1889 after William Devenish acquired a Weymouth based brewery in 1824 formally run by the Fowler family. After many changes through the years the Weymouth brewery ceased brewing in 1985 with all production being transferred to Redruth and renamed Cornish Brewery Co Ltd. The brewery eventually closed in 2004.
