The Freesia is native to the Eastern and Southern parts Africa , but made its was to all warm-temperate regions of the world due to their beautiful flowers. The name "Freesia" originates from the German botanic and doctor Friedrich Freese (1794-1878), who described the flower in the 19th century . There are many different species of freesia with a wide variation in coloration. This one was found along the coast of Malta, an Island state in the Mediterranean Sea.
