Morgan was an American General in the American Revolutionary War. In history, he his best known for his decisive winning tactics at The Battle of Cowpens in 1781. The city of Spartanburg erected this statue in his honor in 1881 on the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Cowpens, in Cowpens, SC.
