Andrew Rees leaves Bridgend Magistrates Court in South Wales after being banned from driving for a year and fined 100. The former policeman, of Sycamore Cottage, Ewenny, Bridgend, had claimed that a cake laced with alcohol had put him over the drink drive limit. *...Rees, 50, admitted driving with excess alcohol in Bridgen on June 19 2000. He had told an earlier hearing that he had drunk two cans of lager, but claimed that it was the fact that he had also eaten cake with alcohol in it which gave him a reading of 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
