The Parintins Folk Festival is a feast carried out annually in the last weekend of June in the city of Parintins, Amazon, Brazil. The festival is a representation where two competing associations: Boi Garantido, red, and Boi Caprichoso, blue. The performance takes place in the cultural and sports center Amazonino Mendes, popularly known as Bumbódromo, a space with capacity for 35, 000 spectators. During the three nights of performances, the two oxen explore regional themes, legends, indigenous rituals and customs of the region through allegories and drama. The Parintins Folk Festival became a means of disseminating local culture. Currently it is the second most important Brazilian folkloric event after Carnival.
