Glorious scarab beetle, Chrysina (Plusiotis) beyeri. This beautiful leaf chafer beetle belongs to the subfamily Rutelinae within the large family of scarab beetles (Scarabaeidae). The adults of this species can be found in the American southwest, from Texas to Arizona and into Northern Mexico. Their typical habitat is high elevation juniper forests where they feed on juniper leaves.
