More information:

Berlin 2009. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall which I photographed in 1989 for the Independent Newspaper I returned to photograph the changes that have happened over the past 20 years. Bullet and shell holes still scar many buildings in the former eastern sector, seen here on Museum Island, indicating the intensity of the hand to hand street fighting that took place as the Russian Soldiers advanced towards the centre of Berlin. Interesting to note that the majority of bullet holes seem to be be angled towards the east indicating that most of the fire power was from the Russian troops whereas the Old men and children who Hitler has demanded defend Berlin to the death probably had very little ammunition to use in their defence. 2009
