This overlook is 0.7 miles (1.1 km) beyond First Trail View. In addition to stunning vistas, Maricopa Point looks out over the former Orphan Lode Mine, claimed in 1891 by miner Dan Hogan. The mine first produced copper, then, during the 1950's and 1960's, uranium ore. Mining operations ended in 1967.
