The Alcazar in Seville, Spain was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. Famous for its beautiful buildings and gardens, the Alcazar was originally a Moorish fort. Actual construction start date seems debated, with anywhere between the 9th and 13th century being cited. Since its beginning, the Alcazar has been expanded with different monarchs throughout the centuries. It is now a cluster of buildings, each with their own architectural styles reflecting the different time periods. The palace is still used today by the Royal Family.
