From its source high on the Migneint Moors, Llyn Conwy, Afon Conwy flows through the historic village of Ysbyty Ifan to join Afon Machno which flows from Penmachno, Afon Lledr which flows through Dolwyddelan and then through Betws y Coed where it is joined by Afon Llugwy which flows from the Ogwen Valley, through Capel Curig.
