A World War I memorial to the men and women of Waterford County built at the base of Dungarvan Castle in Dungarvan, Ireland. Dungarvan Castle dates back to 1185 when founded by Prince John, at the mouth of the Colligan River. The castle was used as a barracks during the Irish Civil War, then taken by the IRA who upon leaving in 1922, set fire to the structure. It then was restored and became the local police or Garda Station until 1987. The castles is designated as a National Monument in Ireland.
