The training was part of Vigilant Guard 15, a training exercise consisting of National Guard Soldiers from South Carolina and Georgia as well as local and state emergency responders that reacted to a variety of situations including a collapsed building, assisting casualties and conducting decontamination procedures at the CRRC and other sites. Vigilant Guard is a series of federally funded disaster-response drills conducted by National Guard units working with federal, state and local emergency management agencies and first responders.
