More information:

In 2011 the Bolivian government announced plans to build a road across the TIPNIS Indigenous Territory between Villa Tunari and San Ignacio de Moxos. This provoked many protests across Bolivia, both by groups for and against the project. The indigenous inhabitants of the TIPNIS (who hadn’t been consulted about the project as required under the Bolivian constitution) organised the VIII March in Defence of the TIPNIS. This march left Trinidad on 15 August 2011 and arrived in La Paz on 19th October 2011.
