The event also brings awareness about new discoveries made in the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea in the Alexandria area where 72 wrecks, 20 ships and army aircrafts from WWI and WWII and others that date back to 300 BC have been discovered. An initiative is underway to establish a foundation to manage the restoration of all the wrecks under the sea and encourage underwater archaeology tourism, that makes Alexandria’s treasures a one-of-a-kind destination.
