Southend Cenotaph, Southend on Sea, Essex, UK. A bronze statue of a British ‘Tommy’ soldier has been unveiled in front of the Lutyens designed war memorial in preparation for Remembrance Sunday. The statue has been created by local artist and sculptor Dave Taylor using young WWI re-enactor Ethan Harvey (left of statue) as a model to create a faithful replica of what a soldier would look like on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Local Tory politician Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, attended. Ethan's brother Reuben also attended in uniform
