Since 1996, thousands of people have come to Battery Park City's Wagner Park for the Swedish Midsummer Festival, the largest such celebration in New York City and one of the largest in the country. It includes dancing around a maypole, music, food and wreath making. The program featured traditional music by Paul Dahlin and fiddlers from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis and folk dancing led by Scandinavian folklorist and singer Ross Sutter.
