Scene during the Siege of Sevastopol (Sebastapol), 1855. In the Crimean War (Russo-Turkish War), 1853-1856, Russian troops were under siege from 17 October 1854 to 8-9 September 1855. Here British troops under General Charles Ash Windham (1810-1870), centre, are making an attempt to take the Redan but are repulsed by the defenders, 8 September 1855.
