The terminating point of the Nord Stream Pipeline is located at the energy hub Lubminer Heide near Greifswald, which covers an area of about 12 hectares, including the receiving terminal of the connecting pipelines OPAL and NEL. The onshore part of Nord Streams twin pipelines was built to include an omega-shaped expansion loop, capable of compensating for any possible pipeline expansion or contractions due to pressure and temperature variations.
