Redruth, Cornwall, UK. 18th June 2022,Murdoch Day took place in Redruth today as the town celebrated William Murdoch, the talented mine engineer and inventor who lived in Redruth and his house was the first in the UK to be lit by gas lighting in 1792. He also built a steam-powered 'car' that he tested on the town roads. They had a children’s parade, stalls, steam traction engines and street entertainers too.Credit: Keith Larby/Alamy Live News
