Radley Village, Oxfordshire, England - 6 May 2020 ; no people in view. We have only a few Irises in our garden, and they seldom flower. So one emerging from bud like this is a cause of great anticipation! Suffice it to say, the purple and white bearded Iris flower, when fully emerged, was no disappointment... but that features in another image. Iris is a family of over 250 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. They take their name from the Greek for rainbow, which is also the name for the eponymous goddess of the rainbow. Very apt.
