Quilt, Rose of Sharon pattern. Culture: American. Dimensions: 83 3/4 x 84 5/16 in. (212.7 x 214.2 cm). Date: ca. 1860. The top of the quilt is of a white cotton fabric printed with a thin red stripe. The appliquéd flowers are of pink and green cotton. The edge binding is of green plaid cotton. White cotton fabric with a small dark red figure is used for the backing. There are large-scale quilted flower and feather forms in some areas, as well as an overall pattern of diagonal parallel lines. Museum: Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA.
