Diagnosis : N. elbeli is a member of the group of Neohaematopinusspecies that have the posterior angles of the thoracic sternal plateproduced into points, and paratergal plates IV-VI with no more thantwo apical setae. It is closest to A^. inornatus (Kellogg and Ferris), which also has the abdominal plates much reduced, but is distinct inthat the head is almost as broad as long in elbeli; the thoracic sternal ANOPLURA OF THAILAND—JOHNSON 593. Description: Male: Head broadly rounded anteriorly, almost asbroad behind antennae as entire head is long; postantennal anglesrounded, postantennal margins convex. First antennal segment notmodified although there is one large seta dorsally, set in from themargin; third antennal segment modified and with two short, stoutapical setae. Thorax noticeably broader than long. Sternal platebroader anteriorly than posteriorly, slightly broader than long, withits posterior angles produced into points. Legs as in other members ofthe genus. Abdomen entirely lacking sternal plates except for thoseassociated with the genital segments. Tergal plates present
