This 2003 visit to the Newport Valley in Wales was Prince William's first official duty as he turned 21-years-old. It was chosen because he would be a future Prince of Wales when Prince Charles would become King. For that reason the reigning Prince of Wales accompanied his nervous-looking son for the trip.
