Seated by the fireside in the Oval Office of the White House, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in his first address to the nation since the Japanese attack and our subsequent declaration of war, told the nation that it faces a long, hard war against "crafty and powerful bandits." His voice stern and determined, the President assured the nation that it would know the facts, good or bad, just as soon as they were confirmed. December 9th, 1941.
