Pictured taking a fence in the Stanlake Handicap Steeple Chase over three miles ,five furlongs , for five years old and upwards at Ascot is the Spanish Duke of Alberquerque , owner rider of L'Empereur , which finished third in the race. L'Empereur was recently purchased by the Duke . The Duke , who is in his fifties , is one of the amateur riders entered for this year's Grand National at Aintree on 26 March , riding twelve-year-old L'Empereur who finished sixth at Aintree last year. It will be the Duke's fourth attempt in the race . 17 february 1966
