OCEAN (Nov. 7, 2016) Flight deck personnel coordinate with an aircraft launch and recovery crewman as he climbs down from an F-35B Lightning II aircraft before activating the elevator and lowering the aircraft to the hangar bay. U.S. Navy personnel assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) have gained valuable hands-on experience with the Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) aircraft during its third and final developmental test phase (DT-III).
