Nov. 11, 1953 - Baby Elephant Arrives For London Zoo: A baby elephant destined for the Zoological Gardens, Regent's Park, arrived at London Airport today from Assam, Her name is Lakshmi (after the Hindu goddess of wealth), and she was caught in February. Lakshmi is 4ft. lin. high.
