August 30, 2017 - New York City, New York, United States of America - The front of the Trump International Hotel and Tower. Due to the review of the DACA Act (DEFERRED ACTION FOR CHILDHOOD ARRIVALS) by the Trump Administration, as well as expectation of the discontinuation of the program, 1, 500 New Yorkers gathered at the Trump International Hotel and Tower to demonstrate their support for the act. The DACA Act gives protection against deportation to undocumented young people under 31 years of age, so long as they fulfill certain requirements. Furthermore, the act allows them to attend schools and obtain work permits. The Trump Administration is currently reviewing the act and a decision is expected by a September 5th ultimatum issued by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and the attorney generals of nine other states, who have already had successes in forcing roll backs of immigration laws. The program was made effective by the Obama Administration in 2012. Nearly 800, 000 are currently under the protection of the DACA Act and some estimates claim 700, 000 will be ejected from the nation’s workforce if It is cancelled.
