More information:

'Nasmyth Bridge' also known as 'Almondell Bridge', Alexander Nasmyth (1758 - 1840) or Naysmith, known as ' the father of Scottish landscape painting.'was a famous Edinburgh artist who studied at the Royal High School and then under Alan Ramsey. He designed this bridge which is constructed from sandstone around 1900 over the river Almond. After a traffic accident the bridge was in a dangerous state with the parapet falling into the river and a hole where a lorry had fallen through. The Millennium Fund sympathetically restored it in 1997.
