Model 1841 6-pounder field cannon at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, NC. Smallest caliber cannon used in the American Civil War. Seven men crewed the cannon and it fired 1523 yards. Fort Macon was constructed after the War of 1812 to defend Beaufort Harbor. The Battle of Fort Macon was fought there during March and April 1862.
