May 05, 1967 - United Nations Troops leave Israel Border. Liberation Army takes over in Gaza : Soldiers of the United Nations Emergency Force withdrew from their positions on the Egyptian side of the border of Israel on Friday (May 9), and moved into a camp cast of Gaza. Major-General Rikhye, the Force's Indian Commander and the other officers saluted as the flag was lowered, ending the United Nations peace keeping role in the Middle East.
