More information:

Turin Cathedral, or Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, was built at the end of the fifteenth century and is the only religious building in the Renaissance style of the city. The project for an enlargement of the cathedral, with the aim of creating a worthy environment for the conservation of the Shroud, dates back to 1649, with the work of Bernardino Quadri. In 1667 was called to conclude the work Guarino Guarini, from 1666 already active in the Real Church of San Lorenzo, not far from the cathedral. The dome, which lasted twenty-eight years, was finished in 1694, with solemn mass.
