London, UK. 26th Sep 2020. Judith beheading Holofernes about 1612-13 and about 1613-14 - Artemisia: For the first time in the UK, a major monographic exhibition of the work of Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1654 or later), opens at the National Gallery in October 2020. The inspiration is the acquisition, in 2018, of Gentileschi's Self Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria (about 1615-17), the first painting by the artist to enter a UK public collection.
