More information:

The current entrance of the Castle of Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, gives access to its inner courtyard from the east side of the complex. Next at its right, there is the defense wall and panoramic terrace built over several big arches, that rises on the medieval wall and served as a summer recreation spot. The Ljubljana Castle is a complex standing on Castle Hill above downtown Ljubljana, and it is a key landmark of the town. Originally was a medieval fortress from the 11th-12th centuries with few building units, a defense structure, and later there was added the majority of the buildings between 15th and 17th centuries. It has had various purposes until today. The castle can be accessed by road, by several trails through the forest that surrounds it, or by the funicular. It is an attractive tourist spot and a major cultural venue, hosting a large number of cultural events, weddings, concerts, theater functions, exhibitions, congresses and protocol receptions.
