Until August 2018 this was a crime scene. An independent site management team now continue to make operational decisions until the government assumes responsibility. Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council remain the legal owners, but have had no role in site management, nor decision making about the site, since July 2017. The government say they are committed to fully engaging with the local community once decisions are to be made about the future of the site. The two year anniversary came and went on June 14th 2019. Memorabilia remain, and the smell of ash whipped up by the breeze persists, even after all this time. It is heartbreakingly clear that those who lost family members, friends and loved ones in this terrible tragedy, continue to suffer.
