The signing ceremony was held at 9pm June 171979, to coincide with a similar signing ceremony by U.S. Secretary of State William P.Rogers in Washington , and a two way TV color broadcast relayed by satellite was watched by the signatories in both countries simultaneously and by Japanese TV viewers throughout Japan.
