The gopuram is a prominent feature of hindu temple architecture in southern india. It is the rising tower at the entrance of the temple and they are decorated with sculpture and carvings. This gopuram is at the entrance of Prashanti Nilayam which is the abode / ashram of the indian avatar Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. This entrance is used only by him when entering or leaving the ashram. Prashanti Nilayam is in the heart of the southern indian town of Puttaparthi which is about 180km north of Bangalore
