This print is part of a series of prints with representations of the saints and the Christian holidays of the year. Four scenes of one plate are always printed on one leaf. Including accompanying title page and frontispiece, it concerns a total of 124 plates (490 performances). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the changeable Christian holidays) were cut into 12 small pictures in the third state, and with a separate title page. print maker: Nancypublisher: Paris paper etching St. Ursula and her companions are killed by the Huns outside the walls of Cologne; St. Ursula dies by an arrow, while the maidens are killed by arrows, spears or swords.
