Highgate Road, Birmingham 10th December 2023 - Devastating images show mangled wrecks of two cars involved in a fatal collision where a woman in her 20's died after the BMW she was driving was in collision with a taxi in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham just before 2am on Sunday morning. Police and fire personnel were still at the scene at midday carrying out investigations. A large blue screen covered the crash on one side under a railway bridge and two Technical Support fire vehicles blocked the other side. A Black mangled taxi could be seen towards the wall of the bridge. WEST MIDLANDS POLICE STATEMENT: 'We are investigating after a woman in her 20s has died following a collision in Sparkbrook. 'We were called to Highgate Road near to the junction with Woodfield Road shortly before 2am this morning (10 Dec) to a collision involving a black BMW and a taxi. 'Sadly, the driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene. 'The driver of the taxi was taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries. 'Three passengers of the BMW, two men and a woman, were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening. Highgate Road remains closed whilst our investigation continues into exactly what happened.
