Fishing Family Houses in Scheveningen. For the last two weeks of August in 1873, Johannes Bosboom and his wife stayed at Zeerust Hotel in Scheveningen. There he drew several sketches, over fifteen of which he turned into watercolours. At the heart of this watercolour are a few simple, timberbuilt fishermen’s houses. In the distance, behind the dune, overgrown with beach grass, stands the Dutch Reformed church of Scheveningen.
