Varosha, Famagusta, CyprusMore information:
Varosha is located in the southern quarter of former Famagusta, in Northen Cyprus. In the early 1970s, Famagusta was the number-one tourist destination in Cyprus because of beautiful coast line and a luxury resort. In 1975 Turkey invaded the island and as a result of it Cyprus was divided into two parts and as a result of this Famagusta belongs today to the Northen Cyprus (under Turkish Cypriots rule). In July 2021 the area, formerly kept as a military zone for decades, was reopened for the civilians. We went there yesterday to see how in the absence of human habitation and maintenance, buildings continue to decay.
