Millions of swarming larvae from the large tropical soldier fly will in future become sustainable Danish feed for fish and poultry. Northern Europe's largest fully automated insect factory Enorm officially opens on Wednesday December 6th in the small village of Flemming west of Horsens. This spring, production will increase to 100 tonnes of larvae - per day. In a few weeks, the larvae turn into a protein-containing animal feed in the form of flour and oil. The founders behind the fully automatic new factory of 22, 000 square meters are father and daughter, Carsten Lind Pedersen and Jane Lind Sam had a background in pig and feed production until they were tempted by the potential of an insect industry that is booming worldwide these years.
