Copious water applications during dry weather, especially when the plants are heading, and light dressings of nitrate of soda and potash are of much help. Set plants 2 to 2 feet apart each way. When the heads are formed and hard, they should be blanched by drawing leaves together and tying with raftia or strips of cloth.
